Over the next few weeks, we will start introducing the artists participating in the inaugural we. art gathering! It’s always nice to hear a bit more of the artist’s background, their process when it comes to creating and how they’ve evolved over time. In that spirit, we will be posting interviews we conducted with each of the artists so you can become a bit more familiar with them. Super excited to have Reno-based Hannah Eddy in the mix, scroll down to learn more about Hannah and her style!

Where are you from originally?

HE - I grew up in Maine

How did you first get into art?

HE - Ever since I can remember I’ve been really into drawing.  It has always been the things that gives me the time and space to just sit and be.

What is your favorite medium?

HE - I love working with acrylic and gouache.  I also really enjoy working digitally.  I can take my iPad on adventures in my truck camper and have all the illustration tools I need at my finger tips

What inspires you?

HE - I am inspired by exploring nature, riding boards, flow state, having fun and general good vibes

Why do you do what you do?

HE - To inspire positivity, help represent women getting radical, and encourage an appreciation and connection to nature.  Oh, and it’s really fun

What is your creative process approaching new projects?

HE - Lots of sketching and thinking.  Figure out a vibe and color palette then dial it in

How has your style evolved over the years?

HE - My style has been evolving over the years, but I have always loved illustrating colorful fun playful characters and scenes.  In the last few years I have really dialed it in to create things that I truly connect with and make me happy

What is your lifestyle outside of art?

HE - My lifestyle outside of art is basically what I create in my art.  I am pretty much obsessed with snowboarding, skating, surfing, biking, and just being out in nature

If you could travel anywhere to create art, where would it be?

HE - Currently I’d love to go to Morocco.  The colors, landscape, meeting of the mountains and ocean, and culture all seem super inspiring.  Not to mention some of the best surfing you could find!

Do you listen to music while you're creating? If so, what are some of your current tunes?

HE - I don’t always listen to music because I also listen to a bunch of podcasts. But when I have tunes on my current go to’s are: Stonefield, Sugar Candy Mountain, King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard, La Luz, ORB, Sabbath, Quilt, The Budos Band

What role do you think artists have in society?

What has been a seminal experience in your art career thus far?

HE - When I got to accomplish my childhood goal of having my art on a snowboard

What helps you get "unstuck" creatively?

HE - Getting outside, having some fun, and feeling the flow works every single time

Who are your biggest influences?

HE - Anyone who is being true to who they are, making a positive impact, not taking things too seriously, and caring for each other/the planet
